This is an absolutely beautiful mud-dyed flannel made by artisans living on the Amami-Oshima islands of Japan. This style of Dorozome dying dates back hundreds of years on these small islands north of Okinawa and they're able to produce extremely deep earth tones by using local "red mud" from the islands.
