…fabric is designed so that only the kasuri pattern parts of the synthetic fiber threads remain colored in contrast to the black as they do not absorb the dye. Dyeing with black montsuki dyeing gives the material a slick texture. The “ultimate black” from Kyo Kuro Montsuki is what SDA has called “The Blackest Black”. This “ultimate black” is born from years of technique refinement of Banshu weavers and Kyo Kuro Montsuki dyeing artisans. Now at a ll stores as part of SDA’s summer collection.

These French BORO coveralls are created by a single craftsman, who repeatedly dyes and hand stitches each piece. The combination of many materials and hand stitching gives it a vintage-like finish. These are made in very limited numbers as part of their newly released summer collection.

…combination of red-cast and green-cast indigo. This creates an incredibly deep and unique blue, achieved by mixing both natural and synthetic indigo warp yarns. Two sets of uneven slub yarns, each with different indigo types, are alternately woven to create an overlapping effect of indigo shades. The natural unevenness and depth resulting from this weaving method give the denim a look and feel unlike any other we’ve encountered. Now at all stores in SDA’s straight leg fit.

…new level. This is an absolutely beautiful mud-dyed fabric with sashiko accents made by artisans living on the Amami-Oshima islands of Japan. This style of Dorozome dying dates back hundreds of years on these small islands north of Okinawa and they’re able to produce extremely deep earth tones by using local “red mud” from the islands. Available in two beautiful shades of brown at all stores.
