…overall patterns of the same era as the 1936 denim jacket (Type I), reworked with a widened leg from the thigh down for a true work-pant silhouette. The waist has been modernized by removing the suspender buttons and cinch back, while key pre-war details remain intact, including the crotch rivet and the orientation of the center-back felled seam. The jeans are cut from 13oz selvedge denim woven with slubby No.7 warp and No.7 weft yarns, spun using pre-modern techniques to create a highly irregular, textured fabric. Finished with predominantly orange contrast stitching throughout, the result closely mirrors the look, feel, and construction character of true pre-war workwear.

Mister Freedom released a jean nearly two decades ago which was so wild most people didn’t know what to make of…
…it. It was a complete redesign of what we knew to be an indigo denim jean at the time, complete with the mixing of a right hand twill and left hand twill sugar cane fiber denim. We’re happy to say they’ve decided to bring the 7161 jean back, named after their street address on Beverly street in Los Angeles (and literally around the corner from SELA). The jean has some minor tweaks to the fit (a higher rise now) and is now made in Japan while the original was made in the US. Check our product page for the jean for a full spec list; available now at all stores.
