Samurai Heavyweight Natural Indigo & Kakishibu Dyed Zip Hoodie
$415.00
Samurai’s newest sweatshirt is built from a substantial 14.5oz fleece developed specifically for this release. The knit is tightly constructed from 30-count cotton yarns that have been rope-dyed in natural indigo, resulting in a rich tone and a dry, slightly grainy hand. Because the yarns trap tiny air pockets, the fabric has a uniquely firm structure that will break in and mold to the wearer with time.
To keep the look cohesive, the ribbing at the cuffs and hem is made from the same indigo-dyed yarns, giving the garment both visual consistency and long-term resilience. After construction, each piece is treated with a Kakishibu (persimmon tannin) overdye, which layers a warm, earthy cast over the indigo base, especially in the interior. This traditional dye not only deepens the overall color but also adds natural antimicrobial properties and increased fiber strength. As the sweatshirt ages, the Kakishibu finish will slowly react to light and oxygen, creating a deepened hue and a patina.
