Created exclusively for our 20th anniversary, these special edition BONCOURA 66 jeans are made from a newly developed 15oz version of the brand's proprietary IKEMEN denim. The fabric starts with BONCOURA's carefully selected blend of cotton from multiple growing regions and specially twisted yarns, with a newly developed slub yarn introduced into the weft to create a pronounced three-dimensional texture. Through extensive sampling and adjustments to the cotton blend and yarn irregularities, BONCOURA achieved a denim with a noticeably rugged surface while maintaining the balanced character of its original IKEMEN fabric. The resulting rope-dyed indigo selvedge denim is woven on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms and has an unusually rich texture that will continue to develop with wear.
For this anniversary edition, we've added exclusive Self Edge 20th Anniversary commemorative prints to the custom random herringbone pocket bags and specially tanned deerskin leather patch. These details were developed specifically for this collaboration, distinguishing the anniversary edition while preserving the original construction and familiar silhouette of the BONCOURA 66. Finished with a one-wash treatment followed by natural air-drying (not industrially dried in machines), these jeans bring together BONCOURA's approach to traditional Japanese denim production and a newly developed fabric created to celebrate our 20 years in business.
This BONCOURA 66 model features a medium rise and a relaxed tapered leg, offering good room through the upper portion with a gradual taper toward the hem. The construction follows BONCOURA's established 66 specifications, including original logo copper cap-type rivets, custom logo buttons, and a traditional button fly. All stitching is done using cotton thread, with gauges ranging from size 8 to 30 depending on the area of construction, creating subtle variations inspired by vintage sewing techniques. Additional details include hidden coin pocket selvedge, hand-marked sizing, an original printed inner waistband, and chainstitched hems.
