Over the past six years Merz B. Schwanen has slowly turned into…
…many of our clients’ favorite basics brand. The combination of attention to detail, breadth of textile styles, and various colors and fibers has turned Merz into a basics powerhouse. Cotton garments are made of organic Greek cotton then loopwheeled on vintage knitting machines in Germany and finished with vintage-correct construction and trim. Everything from the knitting to the cutting and sewing is done in-house at Merz. The attention to detail in their tees, sweaters, and underwear is impressive and we’re excited to be able to expand what we stock from them.

…level, the Amami-Dorozome double-indigo mud dyed jeans. These jeans have been mud dyed over indigo denim by hand in Amami Oshima, Japan. Absolutely beautiful and once the mud-dyed “overdye” fades away you’ll be able to see the deep indigo denim underneath. These will look truly amazing after some wear as they patina and the indigo denim shows through the “overdye”.

This is an absolutely beautiful mud-dyed jean made by artisans living on the Amami-Oshima islands of Japan. This style of Dorozome dying dates back hundreds of years on these small islands north of Okinawa and they’re able to produce extremely deep earth tones by using local “red mud” from the islands. Self Edge x Samurai x 3sixteen SEXSX3s27 Denim Jacket

As part of this newly released collaboration we…
…have a denim jacket, made of a collaboration exclusive 15oz Japanese selvedge denim with a natural and synthetic indigo dyed warp made of medium staple 100% Texas cotton fibers while the weft is made of a custom blend of natural un-bleached short staple cottons from Greece, Australia, and the USA. We went with a charcoal selvedge ID with a silver lamé thread, understated and very Samurai. The jacket is finished with original Samurai black snap buttons, an inner chest pocket, a heavyweight cowhide patch, a Samurai Motorclub tag, and a 100% cotton drawstring.

We’ve come together with Samurai and 3sixteen, two very well known denim brands we’ve been working with for a combined 25 years to bring you a capsule collection inspired by our love of Japanese cars. Samurai has had a legitimate racing team building exclusively vintage JDM (Japan Domestic Market) cars for nearly two decades and the crew behind 3sixteen & Self Edge used to build street racing Toyotas and Hondas years ago. We always wanted to do a collaboration involving two different denim focused brands and bringing Samurai together with 3sixteen felt like a natural fit.

…we have these printed tees which are triple 3sixteen, Samurai, and Self Edge branded and made of a custom 3sixteen developed 8oz jersey which was made in the USA with Japanese hardware accents. The t-shirt is a 3sixteen reproduction of Samurai’s branded pocket tees, with a different silhouette and sewing pattern compared to 3sixteen’s regular heavyweight t-shirts.

The collaboration exclusive denim is a 15oz Japanese selvedge denim with a natural and synthetic indigo dyed warp made of medium staple 100% Texas cotton fibers while the weft is made of a custom blend of natural un-bleached short staple cottons from Greece, Australia, and the USA. We went with a charcoal selvedge ID with a silver lamé thread, understated and very Samurai. The jean is finished with .950 sterling silver plated sakura buttons, Samurai original rivets, and ShoGyo-Mujo jacquard pocket bags.

All three entities worked on designing an all new Samurai denim from the ground up to create two jeans and a denim jacket which were made in Japan, along with a printed pocket t-shirt which was made in the USA with Japanese hardware accents. …the years one of our best selling blank t-shirts is Whitesville’s Japanese made tees which come in 2-packs. We can rarely keep these in stock so we’ve had them do a production run for Self Edge so we can be fully stocked across all stores through the winter. These are available again at all stores in navy, black, gray, and white.

…capsule collection is inspired by our shared love of JDM tuning and highlights a fictional car club called "The Redliners."
Together with Samurai and Self Edge, we developed a really special 15oz loomstate denim specifically for this project. We're releasing two cuts of jeans, a coach's jacket and a graphic tee that are chock full of both obvious and IYKYK details. Read more about it via the link in our bio, and look for the collection to release this Thursday (4/17) at all Self Edge and 3sixteen stores, as well as on both our websites.

Sugar Cane Fiction & Romance Work Pants! These are made of an 8oz indigo stripe fabric, woven on a shuttle…
…loom, and inspired by vintage narrow-width textiles originally used for traditional Japanese clothing. Initially it appears to be a simple indigo-and-natural stripe fabric, but upon closer inspection, small white areas can be seen within the indigo base. These subtle white sections are created using kasuri yarns, which are carefully resist-dyed to produce a two-tone effect within a single thread. Next level stuff, and available now at all stores.
