We were excited to find out that starting 2013 the William Gibson collection was going to move beyond military reproductions and that there would be original (non-black) pieces produced. One of the best pieces we saw in the collection was this duffle coat. They nailed the fabric which is heavy but extremely soft, the angled hand pockets are awesome, and the linen rope and natural wood toggles are great.
This jacket has been overdyed black with a fugitive pigment dye which is an unstable and un-permanent dye that fades to later show the indigo denim underneath. Essentially this is a denim that begins black and fades to indigo in high friction areas, or what the Japanese call the "atari" fade. This particular model is what we feel the most original and exciting fabric we've ever put into a jacket. Iron Heart released a set of overdyed jeans (using their flagship 21oz sanforized denim) four years
An exact reproduction of Zippo's flip-top lighter from 1941. In 1941 they made the case look more slim by having flat planes with sharper and less rounded edges where the front and back surfaces meet the sides. The lid and bottom case are joined by a four barrel hinge which they eventually changed to a five barrel hinge after the 1950's. The inside of the bottom of the case is flatter with squared edges where the front and back surfaces meet the sides. So many details on something so simple and
You probably didn't see this coming, and neither did we. Somehow a set of caps showed up repping our four stores across a custom wool six-paneled leather strap backed cap. The caps are made in Seattle by Ebbet's Field and each one is only available at the Self Edge store which it represents, or you can cheat by buying them all online in our webshop. We had made a batch of these two months ago but they sold out so quickly in the stores that we had to wait until another run was done to get them
The most tried on jacket at our stores for the past seven years has been Iron Heart's rider's jacket which is available in both indigo and black. They've now done a new version which has a blanket lined body and quilted satin lined arms. These are done in limited numbers and are sure to be a future classic.
Flat Head has taken their heavy winter flannels and produced a version that can be worn year round. These breath well and aren't brushed on the inside for even more breathability. This is finally a great flannel shirt from Flat Head which you can wear both in the summer and winter complete with that deep pattern that only Flat Head can achieve.
This wins as the most comfortable and warmest jacket we've ever carried and comes with the quality that Flat Head delivers on every garment.
The ultimate loopwheeled hoodie comes from Strike Gold, their first attempt at doing a loopwheeled hoodie and they win on every count. Available in three colors these heavy weight inner brushed hoodies will last a lifetime and are super soft on the inside and sturdy on the outside. They've been woven a bit tighter than traditional loopwheeled hoodie fabrics to make them a bit more windproof.
An extremely warm and comfortable jacket from Stevenson's new winter line. They pulled out all the stops on the fabrics on this jacket and have created an understated classic piece.
We're excited to announce the first non indigo or black jean at Self Edge. The 577BSP jean is made of a 9.5oz natural Pima cotton denim produced by North Carolina's Cone Mills. This is cotton in its natural color, it has not been treated with any bleaches or acetates. A great slim fit that's flattering and form fitting all around due to the stretch selvedge denim which Cone Mills has developed. We gave 3sixteen a hand in the design of these jeans and are more than pleased with the way they
Flat Head does one varsity every year and in Japan they are among the most collectible items that Flat Head produces. Amazing quality on the woven wool and leather outer, great fit, and top notch details.
We believe this is the first indigo dyed loopwheeled sweater coming from Japan. This crewneck sweater will fade and age over time just like a good pair of jeans.
